ADHD

ADHD management for children, adolescents and adults

The Town Medical Centre is one of Victoria’s leading general practice clinics providing ADHD management for children, adolescents and adults, including diagnosis and ongoing treatment.

Due to a number of factors, including underdiagnosis of ADHD in the past, and an undersupply of doctors trained in ADHD diagnosis and management, there is currently a high demand for ADHD management in Australia.

Due to this our clinic is currently not taking any new patients. To go on our waiting list please contact us.

What Is ADHD?

Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD) is a neurodevelopmental disorder that generally presents before 12 years of age, but can go undetected until adulthood. Symptoms can include difficulties with attention and/or hyperactivity and impulsivity that interferes with a person’s functioning or development.

A diagnosis of ADHD is suggested when these symptoms occur often (and for at least 6 months) and negatively impact functioning in several areas including psychological, social, academic, occupational, and activities of daily living and leisure.

Town Medical Centre approach

Following an in depth consultation with the patient, our doctors can advise if an ADHD assessment is required.

If a patient is diagnosed with ADHD, our doctors work with a range of health professionals, including off-site psychiatrists, to develop a treatment and management plan to suit the individual patient’s needs.
